Nottingham Ramblers

Type of walking?

The Nottingham Ramblers walk every Sunday. One week a coach takes us to Derbyshire, the next Sunday we walk locally.

On local walks we car share (you don’t need to have a car) or use public transport (you will be surprised by the amount of lovely walks just a bus ride away).

Coach walks pick up at Trent Bridge 9.15am and Maid Marian Way 9.30am.

We usually start walking around 11am, have pub/tea or toilet stop mid way and finish around 5pm - this varies according to the time of year.

How far?

This sounds great - you are thinking - but how far do they walk?

When we use the coach we have a choice of three or four walks 6-13 miles, gentle - to strenuous. Bear in mind that even a gentle walk in Derbyshire will requires more effort than a walk around your local park. There will be stiles, uneven paths and a few slopes. However if you are ‘Iron Man’ standard we can do that too !!!!

The coach fare is £8 or £9 depending on numbers and distance - and you have to book.

Non-members pay £2 more.

See our walk programme for the lovely walks we are doing in the next six months.

Now if all this sounds too big a step you can join us on a local walk- no booking required.

For car sharing walks we meet at the Robin Hood Statue by the Castle and if it’s a public transport walk at the bus stop. There is only one walk - 7-9 miles and the pace and terrain are fairly gentle.

How do I start?

You don’t have to be a member of the Nottingham Ramblers to start walking with
us but we hope you will join after a few walks.

And now for the technical bit! You will need walking boots, wet weather gear, a packed lunch and drinks.

For membership details email
or check the Nottingham Ramblers’ website under ‘Walks Programme’.

In an effort to reduce our overheads the committee has made the decision not to post copies of the printed programme to members. Anyone who requires a copy of the printed programme should contact the membership secretary or one of the walks organisers.
